Real Apple 4g iPhone found in a bar!!!

19 Apr

Some poor soul lost a prototype 4g iPhone in a bar in San Jose. The 4g iPhone was disguised as a 3Gs in a custom made case.

According to Engadget and Gizmodo the new features include a front facing camera, the battery on this iPhone is 25% larger, the screen is smaller a it will take a micro SD card, Size is 4.50 by 2.31 by 0.37 inches, has separate volume buttons, and higher resolution screen than the 3Gs.

At first glance it looks like a fake but after further inspection and disassembly it appers to be genuine Apple prototype parts.

The person that lost this prototype is going to be in a lot of trouble.

iPad Disassembly

18 Apr

Here’s a video about disassembling your iPad. I’ve been wanting to see the contents inside the iPad but I didn’t want to disassemble mine.
Now I know why the battery life is so good. The battery is huge compared to the iPod and iPhone batteries.
After seeing this video I wonder how hard it would be to replace the harddrive with a larger ssd. Can you imagine an iPad with a 500gb ssd/hdd? That would be pretty cool. Swapping out the iPad ssd would be an interesting project.

Tether your iPad to your iPhone

15 Apr

If you’re one of the lucky ones to have an iPad and an iPhone then you’re in luck. Apple’s release of the iPad seems to be going well and after having an iPad for a couple of weeks I don’t have too many complaints. One of the few complaints I did have was that the iPad was kinda useless without internet access. The first few days I had it I was scrambling to get wifi signal every time I wanted to use the iPad outside of my office or home.

I was hoping to get the 3G version when it’s available but after doing some research I found a way to connect my iPhone to the iPad. This will only work with iPhones that have the jailbreak installed on the iPhone. I had a 3GS with firmware 3.1.3 and the newest baseband so i wasn’t able to install the jailbreak. I opted to get a 3G iPhone from AT&T for $99 plus tax plus upgrade but after it was all said and done I still was only out $170.

After getting the 3G, I installed the the jailbreak then added MyWi. I couldn’t believe it was that easy. MyWi turns your iPhone into a wireless router with 3G access. After in installed MyWi I setup up my iPad like it was using a normal wireless router and I had internet everywhere. MyWi is $10 in the Cydia store but a hacker hacked the hack so you can find it for free with google.

Pros:
Internet everywhere.
No waiting for the iPad 3G.
The wifi ipad is about $130 less than the 3G iPad plus and no extra monthly fee.

Cons:
Must have an iPhone with the Jailbreak.
It will drain your battery fast so you should keep a car charger handy.
When switching to another router you have to manually select the router because it stays connected to MyWi even if MyWi is off.

Netgear vs Belkin wireless router

16 Mar

Netgear WGR614 Downloaded at 11.13 Mbps and the
Belkin Wireless G Router Downloaded at 26.49 Mbps.

Netgear vs Belkin wireless router
This week Best Buy has the Netgear WGR614 and the Belkin G wireless router for sale for $39.99 each.
I tested both out today and the Belkin was much faster. Here are the wired speed results from the 2 routers. The wireless speeds had similar results.
Netgear WGR614
Belkin Wireless G Router

I was really suprised at the difference between the 2 routers. If your thinking about buying a router this week from Best Buy make sure you get the Belkin. If you tell them it’s online for $34.99 they should even give it to you cheaper then the store price of $39.99.

iPad the Laptop replacement

iPad
A large, high-resolution LED-backlit IPS display. An incredibly responsive Multi-Touch screen. And an amazingly powerful Apple-designed chip. All in a design that’s thin and light enough to take anywhere. iPad isn’t just the best device of its kind. It’s a whole new kind of device.
LED-Backlit IPS Display

The high-resolution, 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS display on iPad is remarkably crisp and vivid. Which makes it perfect for web browsing, watching movies, or viewing photos. With iPad, there is no up or down. It’s designed to show off your content in portrait or landscape orientation with every turn. And because it uses a display technology called IPS (in-plane switching), it has a wide, 178° viewing angle. So you can hold it almost any way you want and still get a brilliant picture, with excellent color and contrast.
Multi-Touch

The Multi-Touch screen on iPad is based on the same revolutionary technology on iPhone. But the technology has been completely reengineered for the larger iPad surface, making it extremely precise and responsive. So whether you’re zooming in on a map, flicking through your photos, or deleting an email, iPad responds with incredible accuracy. And it does just what you want it to.
Thin and Light

One of the first things you’ll notice about iPad is how thin and light it is. The screen is 9.7 inches measured diagonally. So overall, it’s slightly smaller than a magazine. At just 1.5 pounds and 0.5 inch thin,1 you can take it anywhere. And a slight curve to the back makes it easy to pick up and comfortable to hold.
Up to 10 Hours
Battery Life

To maximize battery life, Apple engineers took the same lithium-polymer battery technology they developed for Mac notebook computers and applied it to the iPad. As a result, you can use iPad for up to 10 hours while surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching videos, or listening to music.

Wireless

With built-in 802.11n, iPad takes advantage of the fastest Wi-Fi networks. It automatically locates available Wi-Fi networks, which you can join with a few taps. iPad also comes with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, letting you connect to devices like wireless headphones or the Apple Wireless Keyboard.
3G

iPad will also be available in a 3G model with superfast data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.3 So if you’re traveling or you happen to be somewhere without a Wi-Fi network, you can still get a fast connection for surfing the web, downloading email, or getting directions.

Performance

The A4 chip inside iPad was custom-designed by Apple engineers to be extremely powerful yet extremely power efficient. The performance is unlike anything you’ve ever seen on a touch-based device. Which makes iPad fantastic for everything from productivity apps to games. At the same time, the A4 chip is so power efficient that it helps iPad get up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. And iPad is available with a choice of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of flash storage4, giving you lots of room for your photos, movies, music, apps, and more.

All of the built-in apps on iPad were designed from the ground up to take advantage of the large Multi-Touch screen. And they work in any orientation. So you can do things with these apps that you can’t do on any other device.
The large Multi-Touch screen on iPad lets you see web pages as they were meant to be seen — one page at a time. With vibrant color and sharp text. So whether you’re looking at a page in portrait or landscape, you can see everything at a size that’s actually readable. And with iPad, navigating the web has never been easier or more intuitive. Because you use the most natural pointing device there is: your finger. Scroll through a page just by flicking your finger up or down on the screen. Or pinch to zoom in or out on a photo. There’s also a thumbnail view that shows all your open pages in a grid, to let you quickly move from one page to the next.
See and touch your email in ways you never could before. In landscape, you get a split-screen view showing both an opened email and the messages in your inbox. To see the opened email by itself, turn iPad to portrait, and the email automatically rotates and fills the screen. No matter which orientation you use, you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email using the large, onscreen keyboard, or delete messages with nothing more than a tap and a flick. If someone emails you a photo, you can see it right in the message. You can also save the photos in an email directly to the built-in Photos app. And iPad works with all the most popular email providers, including MobileMe, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL.
With its crisp, vibrant display and unique software features, iPad is an extraordinary way to enjoy and share your photos. For example, the Photos app displays the photos in an album as though they were in a stack. Just tap the stack, and the whole album opens up. From there, you can flip through your pictures, zoom in or out, or watch a slideshow. You can even use your iPad as a beautiful digital photo frame while it’s is docked or charging. And there are lots of ways to import photos: You can sync them from your computer, download them from an email, or import them directly from your camera using the optional Camera Connection Kit.
The large, high-resolution screen makes iPad perfect for watching any kind of video: from HD movies and TV shows to podcasts and music videos. Switch between widescreen and full screen with a double-tap. Because iPad is essentially one big screen, with no distracting keypad or buttons, you feel completely immersed in whatever you’re watching.
The YouTube app organizes videos so they’re easy to see and navigate. To watch one, just tap it. When you’re watching in landscape, the video automatically plays in full screen. And with its high-resolution display, iPad makes the latest HD YouTube videos look positively amazing.
With the iPod app, all your music is literally at your fingertips. Browse by album, song, artist, or genre with a simple flick. To play a song, just tap it. iPad even displays album art at full size. Listen to your music with the powerful built-in speaker or with wired or Bluetooth wireless headphones.
A tap of the iTunes store icon lets you browse and buy music, TV shows, and podcasts — or buy and rent movies — wirelessly, right from your iPad. Choose from thousands of movies and TV shows (in both standard and high definition), along with thousands of podcasts and millions of songs. Preview songs before you buy them. Or just sync iPad with the content you already have in your iTunes library on your Mac or PC.
iPad runs almost 140,000 apps from the App Store. Everything from games to business apps and more. And new apps designed specially for iPad are highlighted, so you can easily find the ones that take full advantage of its features. Just tap the App Store icon on the screen to browse, buy, and download apps wirelessly, right to the iPad.
The iBooks app is a great new way to read and buy books.* Download the free app from the App Store and buy everything from classics to best sellers from the built-in iBookstore. Once you’ve bought a book, it’s displayed on your Bookshelf. Just tap it to start reading. The high-resolution, LED-backlit screen displays everything in sharp, rich color, so it’s easy to read, even in low light.
Finding your way is a completely new experience on iPad. Tap to view maps from above with high-resolution satellite imagery, up close with street view, or with topography in a new terrain view — all using Google Services. Search for a nearby restaurant or landmark, then get directions from your current location.
With its expansive display and large, onscreen keyboard, iPad makes jotting down notes easy. In landscape view, you see not only a note-taking page but a list of all your notes. iPad even circles the current note in red, so you can see where you are at a glance.
iPad makes it easy to stay on schedule by displaying day, week, month, or list views of your calendar. You can see an overview of a whole month or the details of a single day. iPad even shows multiple calendars at once, so you can manage work and family schedules at the same time.
The Contacts app on iPad makes finding names, numbers, and other important information quicker and easier than ever before. A new view lets you see both your complete contacts list and a single contact simultaneously. Need directions? Tap an address inside a contact and iPad automatically opens Maps.
The Home Screen gives you one-tap access to everything on iPad. You can customize your Home Screen by adding your favorite apps and websites or using your own photos as the background. And you can move apps around to arrange them in any order you want.
Spotlight Search allows you to search across iPad and all of its built-in apps, including Mail, Contacts, Calendar, iPod, and Notes. It even searches apps you’ve downloaded from the App Store. So no matter what you’re looking for, it’s never more than a few taps away.

Can I play my Ipod through my aux unit?

22 Dec

So, I have a 2004 Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe. For whatever reason, my Cd player no longer works. On the CD button option it reads “CD/AUX” but there is so actual slot or hole for the auxiliary unit. How do I fix it?

Thanks in advanced :)

The Aux input for that car is below the radio behind the large pocket. You need an adapter to use the input though. Get this kit http://diceelectronics.com/honda.html it has an aux input and it has iPod controls.

IPhone bluetooth car kit?

22 Dec

I want to listen to the music I have stored on my iPhone through my car stereo speakers. I have tried FM transmitters and been VERY disappointed. I don’t have a cassette player in my car, so I can’t go that route. Is there a bluetooth kit that will do that? I’m not looking for a kit to merely send/receive calls. The most important thing is the music playing through my car speakers.

Streaming bluetooth is going to have similar problems to the wireless FM transmitter plus its going to be a drain on your battery.
You should get one of the DICE Electronics iPod aux kits. http://diceelectronics.com/ If you use the FMRDS get the pro kit that wires into the antenna.
